I was a 16 years old kid, attending school.
Initial Experience
-----------------------
I experienced frequent involuntary movement mostly in hands, and sometimes in legs and face. It used to be sudden flickering. Initially, hands flicked just once, and little. But later, flickering would continue for three four times, and was starting to get more frequent.
Few experience I remember, is suddenly throwing away compass in maths class, unwillingly producing sound 'hun hun hun' three times, unwillingly looking left or right. Trust me, you would know, when you experience such sudden involuntary flickers.
But that was ignored. Concern raised when I fainted on the day of my maths exam. It was a brief faint, for 10 seconds or less, while walking. I didn't see that coming, everything was just normal. But I had collapsed completely to the floor, and had few physical injuries.
Well lot of people faint. No big deal. But, I knew I had to see a doctor, when I fainted the second time. It was, surprisingly, again on the day of my maths exam, exactly one year later. This time, I fainted for an hour, and again, had several physical injuries while awake. Last thing I remember before fainting is, I was practicing for my maths exam.
Seeing a doctor
--------------------
I went to Hospital. I was referred to neurologist. I had to undergo CT Scan, MRI, EEG and Blood Tests. Every report came out normal but EEG. The reports said 'partial epileptic seizure disorder'.
Treatment
-------------
I was prescribed 'Enchorate Chrono' starting from 200, mg probably, with other side drugs. and gradually increasing the quantity. And occasional follow up with the doctor, on an average, every two months.
In two months, my flickering had stopped completely.
I took the medicine for seven consecutive years, in varying quantity. Quantity ranged from 200(probably mg) to 1600 a day(800 morning/ 800 night). Other side drugs included Frisium. There was more but I don't recall.
Everything was normal since then. I never missed my medication during those period. My EEG Test was taken every year.
Finally after seven years, my neurologist decided to stop the medicine, gradually decreasing, and after three months of observation without medicine, I was let go.
During the medication, I gained weight. I reached up-to 110kgs from 80 kgs, I used to feel drowsy and sleepy all the time. But with exercise and proper diet, I successfully cut out my weight to 88 kgs during medication and back to 75kgs after medication.
-----------------
Now, I am 24. Its been a year since my last medication.
If you are suffering from the same, I would advise you to stay away from alcohol and disco lights, as it can induce epileptic seizures.
One good thing about seizure is, its painless.
